National Enterprise Awards 2022

CIRTEX Ltd who are supported by Local Enterprise Office Longford, were winners at this year’s National Enterprise Awards. The awards, which took place at the Mansion House in Dublin, are in their 23rd year and run annually by the Local Enterprise Offices. CIRTEX Ltd is a manufacturing company that has created a closed-loop manufacturing business that upcycles the materials from duvets and mattresses, most of which are imported, to be reused in new products, took home the Green/Sustainability award. This award recognises companies who have incorporated sustainable practices into the day-to-day running of their business, to improve resource efficiency and direct cost savings, getting better access to customers who are increasingly demanding more environmentally friendly products and services.

Student Enterprise Programme 2022 County finals

The Student Enterprise programme 2022 took place online on Tuesday, 15th March.  The overall winner in the senior category was CMG Skinny Bottoms and Halfzips from Cnoc Mhuire, Granard.   Runner Up in this category was Allorá Artwork from Mean Scoil Mhuire, Longford.  Other prize winners included mini businesses from Ardscoil Phadraig - Granard, Ballymahon Vocational School,  Meán Scoil Mhuire – Longford and Moyne Community School.  Approximately 200 students from seven schools in County Longford took part in the programme in 2022.

Women in Business from Longford, Leitrim and Westmeath attend first in person Tri County Networking Event in over two years
Women in business from Longford, Leitrim and Westmeath recently gathered in Lough Rynn Castle in Mohill, to attend the first in person tri county women in business event in over two years.  The aim of the event was to provide an opportunity to share experiences on surviving in business over the last two years and also for some informal networking.
The event was opened by Pat Murphy, Chairperson of the Tri County Women in Business Network. Guest speakers included Ellen Gunning from The Irish Academy of Public Relations and Iris Kavanagh, marketing and communications professional, trainer and facilitator.
