Ireland’s Best Young Entrepreneur Boot Camp (Wexford)
Following a successful countywide search for applications to Ireland’s Best Young Entrepreneur County Wexford Competition, the Local Enterprise Office were delighted to invite 20 budding entrepreneurs to their business boot camp, held in Whites Hotel on the 28th and 29th of August. These entrepreneurs are bidding to win part of a €50,000 prize fund across three categories – Best Idea, Best Start-up Business, and Best Established Business.
The two day boot camp was led by Mr. Terry Harmer from NLC Training in Kilkenny. He was supported by Mr. Sean Fleming, accountant and business mentor. There were three guest speakers across the two days – Mr. Alan Corcoran from South East Radio, Mr. Niall Reck from Graphedia, and Ms. Mags Durand from Maken Marketing. Following on from the two day boot camp, applicants were given the opportunity to avail of one free mentoring session each from both Mr. Terry Harmer and Mr. Sean Fleming. This will be of huge benefit to all candidates aiming to progress their businesses or business ideas – whether they win the prize money or not.
The applicants were further shortlisted following the boot camps and 11 have been invited to interview at the end of the month. The winners will be decided and prizes given out on Wednesday, 30th of September. An Cathaoirleach, Tony Dempsey, will present the trophies to the winners at the county final which will be held in Wexford County Council. The Wexford winners will then progress to Regional Finals where they will compete against winners from Kilkenny, Carlow and Wicklow and aim to win places at the National Final to be held in December in the Google Foundry in Dublin.
