International Women's Day Event 2021-Choose to Challenge - 8th March 2021 12.00-13.30

The Local Enterprise Offices in Dublin and the Dublin Chamber will hold a major International Women's Day 2021 celebration on 8th March, which will bring over 200 of Ireland’s most successful business leaders and female entrepreneurs together for inspirational talks and some networking. 

The Keynote speaker will be Catherine Moroney, Head of Business Banking, AIB.  The entrepreneur panel will be made up of three women who have set up successful businesses in Dublin City:

  • Dobrawa Brach, Arran Street East
  • Nuala Canning, Brandfire
  • Sharon Keegan, Founder CEO, Peachylean Ltd

Attendees will be welcomed to the event by Mary Rose Burke, CEO, Dublin Chamber and Mary MacSweeney, Deputy Head of Enterprise and Economic Development, Dublin City Council.   Broadcaster Ruth Scott will be the MC for the event. The talks will be followed by virtual table based networking.   

The event will take place on an exciting new platform that was launched by Dublin Chamber in January 2021 which recreates the in-person event experience and make the event interactive and personal. Guests will be able to network one on one, connect and exchange details and also take part in breakout sessions, polls and chats.

Currently Head of Business Banking at AIB Bank; Chairman of AIB Corporate Finance, President of Dublin Chamber of Commerce 2020/21 & Council & Board Member of Dublin Chamber of Commerce; Fellow of the Institute of Bankers and former Non-Executive Director of Aviva Health.

Dobrawa Brach, Arran Street East

Born from the search for a simple, hand-thrown pot in great colours, Arran Street East designs and produces homewares for people who enjoy simple, functional, and beautiful objects. We take time to design things that work, merging an architecturally influenced aesthetic and traditional processes to produce useful objects for everyday life, with pattern and symmetry as our watchwords. Since 2016 we have been running ever-popular pottery workshops.

Founded by entrepreneur Laura Magahy in 2015, run by managing director Dobrawa Brach since 2017, with Head Potter Marta Ozog at the helm of the small production team, and Head Workshops’ Teacher Gayle James – a truly female-led business!

In 2016 and 2017 Arran Street East won the Best Tableware category in the Image Interiors Design Awards. In 2019 we were the Home Category and Overall Winner of the Irish Made Awards by Irish Country Magazine.

Mary Mac Sweeney 

Mary Mac Sweeney is Deputy Head of Economic Development and Enterprise with Dublin City Council.  In this role Mary gets to work with the start up and scaling community in Dublin in delivering the services of the Local Enterprise Office Dublin City, where there is an active community of female entrepreneurs leading tech, creative and food businesses.  Mary also plays a role in developing and delivering on strategic objectives to promote Dublin as a great city to live, work, learn and invest in.  Mary also manages the team who deliver the award winning website www.Dublin.ie and the citizen engagement platform Your Dublin Your Voice.  Mary was previously head of Industrial Relations with Dublin City Council and has worked in a variety of roles where she helped to implement change and improve the way the council works for the city and the citizen.  

MC - Ruth Scott

Ruth Scott is synonymous with radio in Ireland as an established broadcaster.
 
After almost 20 years of radio broadcasting with RTE 2fm, Ruth moved to Radio Nova and is now
also a presenter on Virgin Media One.
 
She hosts the Dublin Chamber “Momentum” series and is in demand as an event MC & moderator
around the country.
 
Ruth also works in the Voice Over industry and conducts wedding ceremonies.
