Suitable for those with a start-up business idea or those with an existing business and looking to expand. It will provide individuals with a business plan template and an understanding of the process and importance of the elements of the plan.

We will explore the key elements which must be contained in the business plan – market research; operations and financial projections etc. – which will provide the owner/manager with the necessary information to make appropriate decisions for their future business direction. The session will provide practical exercises designed to assist the planning process.

The workshop will include calculation of project funding requirement and the main sources of finance for micro business:

  • Raising Equity; 
  • CEB Grants and State funding (Back To Work Enterprise Allowance and Seed Capital Scheme) 
  • Micro Finance Loan scheme 
  • Bank Loans etc.. 

Aim of the Programme

The programme aims to provide an opportunity to those with a new or existing business idea, develop a formal business planning document which can meet the needs of their business and investors alike.

  • The structure and essential content of a business plan 
  • The research process as part of business planning 
  • Hints, tips and guidance for the production of a winning business plan 
  • Sources of and securing the necessary funding 

Objectives:

On completion of the session participants will:

  • Understand the requirement for a comprehensive business plan 
  • Be aware of the structure and content of a business plan document 
  • Have begun to identify the elements requiring further research for their own project 
  • Be aware of the information need as required by the owner manager and the outside funder/investor 
  • Understand the business planning process to develop a winning plan
