About the Student Enterprise Programme:

Each year, around 29,000 second-level students across Ireland take part in the Student Enterprise Programme. The programme gives students a chance to experience what it is like to run their own business. They learn by doing, and see the real ups and downs of being an entrepreneur.

The programme supports the business studies course at both junior and senior level. It is also a fun and rewarding experience. Students can be creative, build their own business ideas, and bring them to life. They can work on their own or as part of a team.

In South Dublin, a Schools Enterprise Co-ordinator supports teachers and students. They help schools deliver the programme and guide students as they develop their business projects.

Students first take part in a local competition. Three finalists then go forward to the County Final in the following three categories: Junior, Intermediate and Senior. This gives students a chance to showcase their work and celebrate their success.

South Dublin has a strong record in the competition. Many local students have won awards at national level over the years.

Taking part in the Student Enterprise Programme helps students build important skills. These include teamwork, communication, problem-solving and confidence. It also helps them understand how businesses work in real life.
