Edge Only, the multi-award-winning luxury Irish jewellery brand celebrated for its bold and minimalist statement pieces, proudly marks a decade of innovation, sustainability and style.
Founded by former 2FM radio DJ and jewellery designer Jenny Huston, Edge Only has spent the last ten years differentiating themselves in the fine jewellery landscape with its signature genderless designs and a commitment to sustainable luxury.
Jenny Huston’s journey into jewellery design was deeply influenced by her mother, an award-winning designer-goldsmith and gemologist, who encouraged Huston to develop her own collection. Huston grew up in her mother’s fine jewellery workshop, spending school holidays sorting moulds, shooting waxes, and seeking out lost gemstones, all while absorbing the fundamentals of the craft from a very young age.
After stepping away from her career as a 2FM rock DJ in 2012, Jenny Huston took her mother’s encouragement and channelled her creative vision into a jewellery brand. In late 2014, Edge Only was born.
Master of minimal, statement design, founder Jenny Huston focuses on clean lines and symmetry. "Edge" was the word that differentiated us from what was already out there in the world of precious metal jewellery. I wanted to design quality pieces that gave my look some edge. The only jewellery options for men were banker or biker. For women, it was tiny, delicate, girly pieces or loud costume jewellery - I wanted to live in the space between. Highly finished designs with scale and weight.” says Jenny.
Edge Only’s Rock & Roll Collection placed the brand on the map, with its signature lightning bolt designs quickly becoming a favourite with customers and earning them a place on the global stage. Huston has expanded this collection recently by introducing mini lightning bolts in solid 14-carat gold, capturing the essence of the brand in a refined, timeless design.
A testament to the ‘cool girl’/‘cool guy’ aesthetic personified by the brand, celebrities such as Charlize Theron, Michelle Visage, Laura Whitmore, Joe Lycett, and Aisling Bea are among those who have embraced Edge Only’s distinctive style.
“Jewellery should make us feel more confident, more ourselves,” says Huston. “Sometimes we want our jewellery to toughen up our look, to inject some fun and personality into an outfit, or to reveal a little about who we are. Sometimes, it helps us to feel chic, elegant and sophisticated. Mostly for me and for our customers, to make us look and feel cool - to add some edge. Creating those signature pieces for people [for a decade] has been a privilege (and a joy!)”
Ethical production has been central to the brand's ethos since its inception, with all collections sustainably produced in Ireland from 100% recycled gold and sterling silver. “My mother set up the Design and Craft Council of Ireland (DCCI) jewellery skills course in the early 90s, training the next generation of talent. Working with local goldsmiths, setters and the wider Irish jewellery trade is hugely important to me.”
Over the years, Edge Only has earned acclaim for its unique approach to fine jewellery. From the award-winning 14ct Gold Diamond Marquise Ring, regarded for its sleek modern twist on traditional diamond ring settings, to collaborations with celebrated artists like Leah Hewson, Edge Only has consistently pushed the boundaries of design. Recent accolades include the Upcycled Awards Collection in partnership with The Public House, which was recognised at the 2023 IDI Awards for its innovation and dedication to sustainability.
As Edge Only celebrates its tenth year, the brand continues to craft timeless pieces that blend style and substance with a signature edge. This anniversary represents a significant milestone in a journey inspired by family heritage and fuelled by a dedication to redefining luxury jewellery.
