The Local Enterprise Offices in Dublin and the Dublin Chamber will for the tenth consecutive year hold a major International Women's Day 2019 celebration, which will bring over 250 of Ireland’s most successful business leaders and female entrepreneurs together for an evening of networking and learning. Our excellent guest speakers will discuss their careers, challenges they have overcome and offer advice to fellow business leaders. Members will also have an opportunity to ask their own questions during our facilitated panel discussion.
This year’s event will feature talks by the keynote speaker Adrienne Gormley, Vice President of Global Customer Experience & Head of EMEA, Dropbox our panel of Entrepreneurs, Eva Power, The Ethical Silk Company, Aoife D’arcy, The Analytics Store, Tracy O’Rourke, Vivid Edge and Emmeline Hill, CSO at Plusvital Ltd.   In addition, Mary Mac Sweeney, Deputy Head of Economic Development and Enterprise with Dublin City Council, Professor Orla Feely, Vice President for Research, Innovation and Impact, Nova UCD and Tony O’Malley. Chief Executive, Fujitsu Ireland will make some welcoming remarks. The Master of Ceremonies will be Ruth Scott, Radio & TV Presenter

KEYNOTE SPEAKER

Adrienne Gormley, Vice President of Global Customer Experience & Head of EMEA @ Dropbox

Adrienne Gormley is VP of Global Customer Experience at Dropbox and Head of Dropbox’s Ireland office. At Dropbox, customers are the number one priority and Adrienne's global team ensures that every experience customers have with Dropbox is a great one as well as advocating for & driving customer excellence across Dropbox. As Site Lead for Dropbox Ireland, Adrienne is focused on building out the Dropbox presence in Ireland, attracting and developing amazing talent and making Dropbox Ireland a great place to work.
Adrienne has worked in Tech for over 20 years and joined Dropbox from Google where she led international teams across a range of functions including Sales, Google Maps and Localisation. While at Google, Adrienne also led Google Ireland's women's network. Adrienne continues to be deeply committed to diversity, and is an active member across diversity networks and organisations in Ireland. Adrienne's career has included extensive experience in leadership positions across operations, sales, internationalisation and localization in Tech.

Aoife D’Arcy, The Analytics Store

Aoife has spent the last 15 years developing analytical models and processes for major national and international companies in banking, finance, insurance, gaming and manufacturing. Aoife has developed particular expertise in customer insight analytics, fraud analytics, and risk analytics.
Aoife founded The Analytics Store in 2009 to peruse her passionate belief in the importance of developing in-house analytics talent in organisations. Aoife works with organisations to help them build world class analytics teams and processes through a unique mix of training, consultancy and mentoring.
Aoife is a co-author of the textbook "Fundamentals of Machine Learning for Predictive Data Analytics: Algorithms, Worked Examples & Case Studies" published in 2015 with MIT Press.

Emmeline Hill, CSO at Plusvital Ltd

Professor Emmeline Hill was a co-founder of Equinome Ltd., a NovaUCD spin out company and leads the Plusvital R&D team. In 2004 she was awarded a President of Ireland Young Researcher Award to establish the world’s first academic research programme dedicated to understanding performance traits in the Thoroughbred. She has been at the forefront of Thoroughbred performance genomics during the last decade and has published more scientific papers on equine exercise genomics than any other researcher worldwide. She is an Associate Professor of Equine Science at University College Dublin and leads the Equine Exercise Genomics research group at UCD funded by Science Foundation Ireland.

Tracy O’Rourke, Co-Founder, Vivid Edge

Founder Tracy O’Rourke has a background in financing and structuring large transactions which led her to identify Energy Saving Equipment Efficiency as an exciting emerging energy asset class; the right equipment can transform the energy efficiency of a business while also helping address societal challenges to reduce carbon emissions and build a greener economy. Tracy developed a model to overcome the barriers to implementing commercially viable energy efficiency projects, and has been was joined by co-founders Eimear and Paul to collectively make it happen.

Eva Power, Founder, Ethical Silk Company

Eva Power, founder of The Ethical Silk Company. Designed in Ireland, our products are made through a sustainable supply chain using natural fabrics, artisan printing techniques and Fairtrade practices offering luxury combined with ethics.

Mary Mac Sweeney, Deputy Head of Economic Development and Enterprise with Dublin City Council

Mary Mac Sweeney is Deputy Head of Economic Development and Enterprise with Dublin City Council.  In this role Mary gets to work with the start up and scaling community in Dublin in delivering the services of the Local Enterprise Office Dublin City, where there is an active community of female entrepreneurs leading tech, creative and food businesses.  Mary also plays a role in developing and delivering on strategic objectives to promote Dublin as a great city to live, work, learn and invest in. Mary also manages the team who deliver the award winning website www.Dublin.ie and the citizen engagement platform Your Dublin Your Voice.  Mary was previously head of Industrial Relations with Dublin City Council and has worked in a variety of roles where she helped to implement change and improve the way the council works for the city and the citizen.  

Veronica Rahneberg, Sales Director, Fujitsu (Ireland)

Veronica Rahneberg is the Sales Director for Fujitsu Ireland, Japan’s leading Information and Communication Technology Company. Veronica has been with the company for the past 18 years, consulting and bidding on some of Fujitsu Ireland’s largest flagship accounts. A graduate of the Global Organisational Leadership Development (GOLD) programme, Veronica has honed and demonstrated an exceptional management and directive skill set. In addition to her role as Sales Director, Veronica is the Executive Sponsor of the Women’s Business Network @Fujitsu which serves to promote greater diversity and inclusion among our workforce and associated work practices. With a degree in Computer Applications from DCU and a current EMBA student, Veronica is passionate about promoting careers in ICT for women.

Professor Orla Feely, Vice President for Research, Innovation and Impact, Nova UCD

Professor Feely is Vice President for Research, Innovation and Impact and a Professor of Electronic Engineering at University College Dublin. She holds a BE degree from University College Dublin and MS and PhD degrees from the University of California, Berkeley, where her PhD thesis won the DJ Sakrison Memorial Prize for outstanding and innovative research. While at UC Berkeley, she also won the Outstanding Graduate Student Instructor Award. Her research is in the area of nonlinear circuits and systems, and she has been awarded research grants and prizes from a number of national, international and industry sources.
Professor Feely is a Member of the Royal Irish Academy and a Fellow of the IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers), Engineers Ireland and the Irish Academy of Engineering. She has served as Chair of the Irish Research Council, the EU Advisory Group on Marie Sklodowska Curie Actions, and the IEEE Technical Committee on Nonlinear Circuits and Systems, and as a member of a number of Editorial Boards. She is a director of the Young Scientist and Technology Exhibition and a member of the Higher Education Authority.

Ruth Scott

Ruth Scott is synonymous with radio in Ireland as an established broadcaster.
After almost 20 years of radio broadcasting with RTE 2fm, Ruth has moved to Radio Nova and is now also a presenter on Virgin Media One.
She hosts the Dublin Chamber “Momentum” series and is in demand as an event MC & moderator around the country.
Ruth also works in the Voice Over industry and also conducts wedding ceremonies.
