This workshop helps small businesses get ready for new green regulations, meet customer expectations, and access funding and supports with confidence.
Overview
Participants will step out of day-to-day operations to gain clarity, confidence, and direction - understanding what regulations are coming, what applies to their business, and how to turn compliance into cost savings, credibility, and competitive advantage.
The workshop is highly interactive and action-focused, combining:
- Short, clear teaching segments (slides, visuals, real-world examples)
- Facilitated discussion and reflection
- Practical exercises tailored to micro-enterprise realities
- Online breakout groups to encourage peer learning and problem-solving
- Simple tools and templates participants can reuse in their own business
- The emphasis is on clarity over complexity - demystifying regulation and focusing on what actually matters for small businesses.
By the end of this workshop, participants will be enabled to:
- Understand what “green regulations” really mean for micro and small businesses—now and over the next 2–5 years
- Recognise the risks of inaction, including lost customers, supply-chain exclusion, and missed funding opportunities
- Identify which environmental regulations and expectations are most relevant to their business (sector-specific and size-appropriate)
- Understand how customer behaviour and buyer requirements are driving regulation, not just government policy
- Grasp the basics of sustainability, circularity, and resource efficiency—without jargon or overwhelm
- Estimate their business’s environmental impact at a practical, entry-level (carbon, waste, energy, materials)
- Spot quick wins that reduce cost, risk, and environmental impact at the same time
- Set realistic short-term and long-term sustainability goals aligned with regulatory direction
- Draft a simple sustainability or compliance-readiness statement suitable for customers, tenders, or funding applications
- Understand the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and identify which ones are realistic and relevant for their business
- Know what supports are available, including how LEO Green for Micro and other programmes can help fund and guide their next steps
- Leave with a clear, prioritised action plan for becoming regulation-ready—without overburdening the business
