ACT NOW to Confront the Brexit Challenge!

As UK politicians strive to put a coalition government in place following elections there, the ramifications for Irish Businesses in terms of the Brexit negotiations which are due to commence in the coming weeks are many and serious.

Commenting on the result of the election and the implications for Irish Business, renowned treasury, banking and Brexit commentator, John Finn MD of Treasury Solutions Ltd urged all business large and small to Document a Strategy on Brexit, upskill and understand how to manage foreign currency, put in place a three year business plan to the end of 2020 and relook at bank agreements and refinance if necessary.

To help businesses prepare, the Local Enterprise Office are planning a BREXIT Strategy Development Workshop for Wicklow business which we will be running on Friday JUNE 16th in Wicklow County Campus, Rathnew which will focus on Export Market Development and Finance. Together with to the aforementioned John Finn Eminent speaker Hugh Kelly, former President of the Irish Exporters Association and Chairman of the IEA's Asia Trade Forum will deliver the workshop on the day. Participants will be presented with a number of strategies to assist business Secure and Grow Existing UK activity, Identify and Access  Alternative Markets in a structured way and put in place Financial Strategies for a Brexit Reality

LEO Wicklow have organised this Workshop is part of a number of Brexit supports being put in place in the county to help to build resilience in micro and small enterprises to deal with the potential fallout from Brexit. The Enterprise Ireland online Brexit SME Scorecard is now available to the micro and small enterprise sector on the Local Enterprise office, Wicklow website. The scorecard will enable these companies to take a first step in preparing for Brexit by conducting their own assessment of areas of potential risk and opportunity.

Brext supports totalling €3.4 million, is available to micro and small businesses through the 31 LEOs nationwide. Minister of State for Employment and Small Business Pat Breen T.D. has urged micro and small businesses to prepare for Brexit by making the Local Enterprise Office the first port of call for Brexit support.
