The first in person networking event of 2023 will be an opportunity to hear the story of FoodCloud, a successful Irish business inspired by the need for greater sustainability and to pick up some practical tips on what every business can do to make a positive contribution.

Angela Ruttledge, Public Affairs Manager with FoodCloud will talk about the story of FoodCloud to date, what it means to build a business around sustainability, challenges and tips for all businesses doing their best to make a positive contribution.

Sarah Blake of Earthology will give us her top 5 tips for sustainability in small business. You'll find out where your impact is and what you can do about it. Sarah will cover digital carbon footprints, ways to save energy, sustainability certifications and more. Sandra Reynolds 2023

Sandra Reynolds of Local Enterprise Dublin City will give a brief overview of Green for Micro, a free programme that helps small businesses take the first step towards becoming more sustainable, giving you access to a green consultant who’ll show you the small changes that can have a big impact on your company.

Orla Farrell 2023

In addition, Orla Farrell of Easy Treesie will give us a quick update on her progress towards her organisation's goal of restoring one million trees to our environment with Ireland’s one million school children and their communities.

Finally, Emma Finn of Bees on the Roof is providing a jar of her honey as a spot prize.  She can't join us on the night, unfortunately.

Angela Ruttledge, FoodCloud
Angela Ruttledge is Public Affairs Manager with FoodCloud, an award winning (Irish Charity of the Year 2022) social enterprise that creates solutions to redistribute surplus food, tackling the twin issues of food waste and food insecurity. A solicitor with a background in financial, corporate and commercial law, she won first prize in two Law Society entrance exams and trained with a 'big five' law firm before going to work for the United Nations in Kosovo. Angela ran a restaurant group for 12 years and knows first hand both the challenges of managing an independent enterprise and becoming more sustainable in a small business. She is co-founder of Vytal Ireland, the country's first digital platform for reusable packaging. Angela is an Eisenhower Fellow (Global Leadership Programme 2023) and occasionally writes for The Irish Times.

Sarah Blake, Earthology
Sarah Blake is enthusiastic about communicating sustainability practices to businesses and individuals in a straightforward way, through talks, workshops and strategy. She believes that putting sustainability at the heart of what your business does will increase revenue, drive staff retention and reduce risk. Sarah’s background is a combination of both Human Resources (CIPD Associate) and Horticulture (RHS trained). Sarah believes that companies can make a profit and be Planet Positive. After studying Sustainability at Cambridge University Sarah founded Earthology and subsequently Green Zebra to help employees and their companies on their sustainability journey, one step at a time! Sarah has also completed the Al Gore Climate Reality training and is a qualified B Leader for those companies interested in becoming B Corporations. Sarah has been certified with the Carbon Literacy project in the UK.

Sandra Reynolds, Local Enterprise Office Dublin City

Sandra has over a decade experience supporting early stage businesses to develop their
business and access funding supports across a range of sectors.

She leads a number of initiatives with the Local Enterprise Office (LEO), which help build
client skills and knowledge in the areas of Lean, Green, Digitalisation and Export. This
enables LEO clients build and develop the skills and knowledge to help them in their journey
to sustain and grow their business. She has in depth knowledge of the Entrepreneurial
Ecosystem and an understanding of what supports are appropriate to each stage of your
journey, with a grounded in reality, practical approach to helping early stage entrepreneurs.

The LEO is the first stop shop for anyone thinking of starting a business offering a wide
range of supports including Training, Mentoring and Funding.

Sandra holds a Professional Diploma in Creativity, Innovation and Leadership from the UCD
Innovation Academy (2020).

Orla Farrell, Easy Treesie

Orla set up the project www.easytreesie.com to plant 1M trees with Ireland's 1M schoolchildren and their communities as part of a global restoration initiative The UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration 2021 - 2030 world Trillion Tree Campaign aims to bring down the earth's temperature by 1 degree C. 
A registered primary and second level teacher, with a long career serving on educational boards including City of Dublin VEC and a somewhat shorter one serving as a member of Dublin City Council representing Clontarf, Orla hopes to reach the 500k trees-planted mark by Easter this year.
Orla has been coming to LEO training and events for a decade now, since the year her youngest child started college and bit-by-bit, one tree at a time has become an En-TREE-preneur, thanks to the Tree-mendous support of the WIB network!
