  • You are invited to join with other members of LEO Dublin City’s networks for a festive evening featuring a talk and networking in the beautiful setting of the House of Lords room, kindly hosted by Bank of Ireland. Professor Thomas Cooney from DIT will share some insights into the strategies which are most associated with successful entrepreneurs.
  • The night will also feature the announcement of the winners of the LEO Dublin City Women in Business Network Awards and the night will conclude with both structured and informal networking over wine and finger food.
 
Speaker Profile: Thomas Cooney, Professor in Entrepreneurship, Dublin Institute of Technology
Thomas Cooney is Professor in Entrepreneurship at the Dublin Institute of Technology, Academic Director of the DIT Institute for Minority Entrepreneurship and Adjunct Professor at the University of Turku (Finland). He is a former President of the International Council for Small Business (2012-13) and of the European Council for Small Business (2009-11), and was Chair of the ICSB 2014 World Entrepreneurship Conference. He was a Member of the Department of Enterprise, Jobs and Innovation ‘Entrepreneurship Forum‘ (2013-14) and has been a policy advisor to the Irish Government, European Commission, OECD and other international organisations. He was a founding Director of Startup Ireland and works in various capacities with a range of businesses and not-for-profit organisations. He has researched and published widely on the topic of entrepreneurship and earlier this year co-authored the OECD report 'Supporting Women Entrepreneurs in Ireland'. Further details of his work can be found at www.thomascooney.com.
