Wicklow County Council launches ‘Choose Wicklow’ Campaign

Today, Wicklow County Council launches a new campaign, ‘Choose Wicklow’ aimed at promoting both the lifestyle and professional benefits of living and working in Wicklow.

Speaking about the campaign at the opening of the GRID in Greystones, Taoiseach Simon Harris highlighted the health, environmental and economic benefits of remote working. He said that he firmly believes in remote working and remote learning to enable a more even spread of high value jobs and skills across the country and praised Wicklow County Council for coming together to promote the hubs across Wicklow under the brand of Choose Wicklow.

The Choose Wicklow campaign showcases the experiences of remote working in Wicklow through testimonials from professionals working from hubs. These business owners highlight common advantages, such as the guaranteed short, consistent, often traffic-free commutes and access to state-of-the-art facilities equipped with the latest technology and reliable Wi-Fi services.

In addition to these benefits, local business owner Helen McNulty talks about finding inspiration from the beautiful natural environment at Brockagh Resource Centre, where she runs her marketing agency. While Thierry Peurois, producing gourmet pate at Wicklow Enterprise Centre for his company La Paysan, appreciates being close to both home and his main market in Dublin.

Work-life balance is also a common theme, Keith Slowey, who owns Wicklow Enterprise Suites and operates Slowey Technology from there, appreciates having more leisure time. Peter Baxter, running CreateSchool.ie from ScreenHub in Clermont, values the balance between work and life, allowing him to train his son's football team in the evenings.

Unique to Wicklow, the hubs are in convenient and picturesque locations nestled amidst forests, on the edge of Glendalough, in towns with the sea on one side and mountains on the other.

Cathaoirleach of Wicklow County Council, Cllr. Paul O’Brien said, “Remote working is playing a significant role in the growth of towns and cities. In Wicklow, we have seven working and enterprise hubs located across the county, offering manufacturing sites, contemporary and customisable working spaces with the latest technology. We’re committed to building a thriving rural community in Wicklow that fosters economic, cultural, social and environmental development and wellbeing. We recently opened the GRID in Greystones and will continue to invest in this essential infrastructure for our county.”

Leonora Earls, Director of Services for Wicklow County Council commented, “We’re excited to launch the Choose Wicklow campaign. The enterprise hubs in Wicklow provide far more than just a workspace; they offer improved work-life balance, heightened productivity, enhanced creativity, clear separation between home and work, and an overall better lifestyle. Plus, it significantly reduces the stress and hustle of urban commuting.”

The Choose Wicklow campaign will be running online from 12th November to 10th December 2024.
