WICKLOW BUSINESS GETS CHANCE TO SHINE AT PLOUGHING 2026

A small business from Blessington, Wicklow, will have the chance to exhibit to almost 300,000 people at the National Ploughing Championships in Screggan, County Offaly, this month as part of the Local Enterprise Village.

The Local Enterprise Village, an initiative of the Local Enterprise Offices, will house over 30 small businesses from across the country and will be located at the heart of this year’s National Ploughing Championships in Offaly from the 15th to 17th September.

This year, the Local Enterprise Village will also have a Business Advice Hub for budding entrepreneurs or existing businesses who want advice from the Local Enterprise Offices' Specialist Business Advisors.  So, for anyone with a business idea who wants to figure out how to get it off the ground, or for someone with an existing business who may want advice on funding, sustainability, or building digital and AI into their business, advisors will be on hand to meet with them.

The Local Enterprise Village will again host the Google AI team this year following on from the success of the Google area in 2025.  Their experts will also be in the Local Enterprise Village with an interactive area focused on making AI work for you and your business.

With close to 300,000 visitors expected across the three days of the event, the Local Enterprise Village provides these small businesses with significant exposure to new audiences and potential new customers.  Enterprise Europe Network will also be based in the Village for the first time, advising businesses looking to enter new markets across the EU. From excellent guidance to hands-on advice, they have been invaluable in scaling up and getting prepared for Ireland's biggest outdoor stage.”

Cathaoirleach of Wicklow County Council Cllr. Dr. Caroline Winstanley, said: “The National Ploughing Championships provide an unrivalled platform for Irish businesses to showcase their products and reach new customers from across the country. It is particularly encouraging to see a Wicklow business such as Equibuff representing our county in the Local Enterprise Village. Their innovative products address real needs within the equestrian sector, demonstrating the creativity, problem-solving and entrepreneurial spirit that exists within Wicklow's business community. I wish the team every success at this year's event.”

Chief Executive of Wicklow County Council, Emer O’Gorman said:“Equibuff's participation in the Local Enterprise Village highlights the strength and diversity of enterprise in County Wicklow. Creating products that are both practical and innovative, the company has successfully identified opportunities within a specialist market and developed solutions with international potential. Head of Enterprise, Local Enterprise Office Wicklow, Vibeke Delahunt, said:“The Local Enterprise Village offers small businesses a unique opportunity to connect directly with customers, buyers and fellow entrepreneurs in one of Ireland's largest business and community events. Equibuff is an excellent example of a Wicklow business that has taken a simple idea and developed it into innovative products with strong market appeal. We are proud to support their journey and look forward to seeing them engage with the huge audiences attending the Ploughing Championships.”

“Beyond the exhibitors themselves, the Local Enterprise Village continues to grow as a hub for business support and learning opportunities. With the return of Google's AI experts, access to specialist business advisors and the addition of Enterprise Europe Network supports, there is something valuable for every entrepreneur and business owner who visits. We encourage anyone attending the Ploughing to stop by the Village and discover the innovation being driven by Ireland's small businesses.”

With some of the biggest companies and organisations in Ireland taking up residence at the Ploughing every year, the Local Enterprise Village continues to be a popular destination on the site for those looking to pick up something unique to bring home from some of the best small businesses in Ireland.

The Local Enterprise Village will showcase the very best of Irish entrepreneurship and will house businesses across all sectors, from clothing, craft and artisanal food to bovine genetics and woodwork machinery.

Anna May McHugh, Managing Director of the National Ploughing Association, said: “The Local Enterprise Village is such a valuable part of the Ploughing, giving small Irish businesses from across the country the opportunity to showcase what they do to the huge crowds that attend each year. We are delighted to welcome the 31 businesses selected this year and it’s great to see them have the opportunity to reach new customers and showcase their products & services to such a large audience.

It’s great to welcome Google back for a second year, alongside the Local Enterprise Offices who will be on hand offering advice and support. It's great to see such valuable supports available to small businesses and budding entrepreneurs.”
